Report: Costs of Incarcerating Young Steep – and Potentially Crippling

January 3, 2015 – Youth incarceration in the United States may be slowing, but it’s not getting any cheaper for taxpayers. Keeping young offenders behind bars incurs up to $21 billion in long-term costs every year, according to a report out from the Justice Policy Institute.
